The angles of the equilateral triangle created by the limb leads are each 60°. If the triangle is transposed by placing each side through a common central point of zero potential, a triaxial system will be created in which each of the six angles about the central point is 60°. This transposition, originally described in 1958 by Bayless, permitted the display of information in each lead according to its magnitude and to its positive or negative orientation.
