The electrodes placed on the chest wall, are within the body torso. They are closer to the heart than those placed on the limbs and the wave form recorded by these electrodes may be influenced by electrical activity occurring directly beneath them. For this reason, these electrodes are often referred to as semi-direct electrodes.
