Once the impulse exits the AV node, it spreads rapidly throughout the His-Purkinje system with conduction velocities of up to 3 meters per second. This rapid conduction velocity reflects the large size of the His Bundle cells and is approximately six times that of the atrial myocardium and three to six times that of the ventricular myocardium.
